The Popular Culture Gospel » Where the Wild Things Are

Max considers himself an explorer, and when an argument with his mother turns physical, he escapes with his shame to Where the Wild Things Are. He convinces the monsters there not to eat him, but instead to make him their king, with promises of ... Now to gush over the soundtrack. Ah, Karen O. You're a genius, you foxy, crazy lady. I'm a big Yeah Yeah Yeahs fan, and this score felt mildly similar to previous YYY's stuff, but the tone was perfect for this kind of film. ...

The plot, in case you don't know it, involves the adventure of an angry young boy called Max; one evening he runs away from home, finds an island, and convinces the mosterous ... Incidentally the Karen O's soundtrack is pretty marvelous too and compliments the picture nicely. Posted by Erika at Wednesday, December 16, 2009. Labels: film review, Where the Wild Things Are ...

14 Dec 2009 by Mark Kermode
Just to make things worse was the hipper-than-thou and overly-intrusive soundtrack by Karen-O, director Spike Jonze's ex-girlfriend. Those songs just added to the film's emo-y self pitying tone. I know people will disagree with me but ...
