| 7 Sep 2006 by Raoul Reading and writing to CD-RW discs is problematic as well. Simply put, my Mac spits out certain CD-RW discs without even bothering to read them. Why? I don't know. When I stick them in my PC, they work fine. They're not scratched, they have files on .... VLC will play them fine, and I've yet to come across an .mpg in the wild that was MPEG-2 encoded. Deutsch THINGS THAT MADE EVEN GETTING STARTED DIFFICULT: - no DVD drive (only CD-RW) so no booting to 10.4 installer - no extra HD to backup data onto and archive to revert to old system, etc. - Microsoft keboard and mouse so no zapping PRAM, etc. .... So I don't know what this means - seems like a pretty wild coincidence that the modem just so happened to die at the precise time as the Tiger upgrade (and with so many other people experiencing trouble). ... Even though you run all the spy ware and virus protection---those damn blankity blankin things still find a way through! .... Keep in mind that external drives can fail too. If you backed up your stuff and took it off the computer it's not really a back up anymore is it. If so, consider 2 external drives or copies on CD/RW or DVD/RW as well. ...
