I mentioned that I think INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS is spectacular, and I do...it is unlike any World War II movie I have ever seen, and that is primarily due to Tranatino's affinity and passion for film, and his attention to detail. ... Woodstock brough three days of peace love and music to the world, and a couple of decades later, a man born Jason Mizell helped bring rap music to the masses. Jason was better known as Jam Master Jay and he was a member of the influential rap ...

Hot Air » Blog Archive » Film review: Avatar

Conservatives have more or less primed themselves to hate this film because of the presumed anti-war politics of the movie. It's there — in fact, it's unmistakable — but it's not as bad as one might presume. It mostly comes later in the movie, ..... Yes, the history is tragic but to portray Indians as simple peace-loving noble savages is to utterly disrespect their own warrior culture. Go read about Tecumseh: he nearly checked American expansion at the Mississippi. ...

In particular, his lines towards the beginning of the movie when the Legislature is debating joining the War echo my own thoughts exactly. Specifically the lines “Would you tell me please, Mr. Howard, why should I trade one tyrant three thousand miles away for three thousand tyrants one mile ... I destroyed that man long ago, instead choosing a life of peace, but I've always maintained that if the situation ever truly warranted it, I would resurrect him in a heartbeat. ...

18 Dec 2009 by Chuck
I'm going to keep these scribbled impressions without spoilers as much as possible, but let's be honest: you've seen this movie before. You saw it when it was called Ferngully, you saw it when it was called Return of the Jedi, you saw it when it ... It's more in the overall plot and story where it could use a little more juicefulness. And, compared to some other big budget extravaganzas (Transformers, Star Trek), the story is practically War and Peace. So, there's that. ...

How do you expect Iranians to mean “American people” when our media admires Americans for marching and holding up “no war” placards?! BTW, the trailer looks great, War Machine rules!! Peace. Shaun Says: December 18th, 2009 at 8:48 pm. Hmm… I'm (cautiously) optimistic about this one. Looks fun, but I'm still not sold on Rourke as Whiplash. I also wonder if they're not ... No way will this suck like Spidey 3 did, but there's a movie that was just overloaded with too many characters. I know they set up War Machine in the first movie, but I almost wonder if he shouldn't have waited for a third film. ...

SuperSkeptic says: John Lennon — merry xmas (war is over). Quote. December 20, 2009, 12:08 pm ... Judy singing Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas is my favorite. Although it's obstensibly a pleasant melody with cheerful lyrics, when you see it in the context of the movie, it's actually heartbreaking. Any song that can be cheerful and heartbreaking at the same time is a work of art, and Judy's rendition brings out both flavors. Quote. December 20, 2009, 12:14 pm ...

I loved her in this movie – she was so period in her scenes it was like she WAS an actress in the 40's….the way she tilted her head when she spoke – her whole body language was spot on….i thought she was great….and I do love her .... That film makes it look like “War and Peace” was written by Brits! No Emily Blunt. And NOTHING for “Bright Star” pretty much ends its' Oscar race right here, I'm sorry to say…DP's DOR stuck…Could something like that kill a film's chances? ...

Talking Weeds: Climate Change and the Copenhagen Climate Conference
15 hours ago by Marc Bonagura
One thing Al Gore left out of his movie is the warming period in the middle ages. It didn't make his now famous "hockey stick" graph. Vikings once farmed in Greenland, for example, and now there is permafrost there. ... However, if I were to push for a transition away from fossil fuels, it would first be based on matters of war and peace and national security. A better question to ask is how is our dependence on foreign oil, for example, shaping our defense policy? ...
