Alot of HD DVD movies are just as prone to scratches as the regular DVDs because with the thicker space between the the surface and the data, .... you can 't help blu ray with lies. Since you say it skips on a spec of dust yet you later say you have to polish out a light scratch, I'd say you are full of sh*t. Since my laptops CD-RW drive is toast I can't try another OS. What say you? ... I believe the fault lies with my XP Pro Discs. Notice I say discs, instead of a single boot disc. I helped install Xubuntu - exact same release - same Live CD on a 'Linux curious' colleagues' Laptop last week. Not a hint of issues with Panels not being ....
