25 Jan 2010 by companyjudgenews
It's one of the places you can mark Woody Allen's influence, this genial ease with relational pop psychology; another is a vinyl soundtrack; and still another a bound aesthetic that, curiously, fits Match Point ...

Match Point review
26 Jan 2010 by europechargedblog

8 May 2009 by Weapon of Mass Imagination
Was the turning point. Why Brian Singer couldn't get Ottman, his usual composer, for the first X-Men I can't remember (a scheduling conflict if I recall), but the second film sure does benefit from him being on the job. ... This is more with how the film was a lot more low key then the others, and so naturally Gregson-Williams had to match this with the music. Which was a let down. As I know given a bigger superhero clash he'd have produced something much more memorable. ...

The synchronised sounds and images in the battle ... The visual image of the action provides us with evidence of its occurrence, but its aural match concretes the event' s location at a temporal point, because sound is a temporal phenomenon and validates the motion of time. ...
