Watchmen -- watching society, saving humanity | Mosaic ...
32 minutes ago by Martin
Snyder employs songs from the 60s-80s on the soundtrack to perfectly match the mood and tone of the film. Bob Dylan's "The times they are a changing" takes us from these histories to 1985 and underscores the pint that change has come. ...

Ruminations of an Old Goat
26 Oct 2009 by Henry
The movie's climax, where the Iron Giant chooses to sacrifice himself to save everyone in Rockport, never fails to get me choked up. In this one scene, the theme of the movie -- that the Iron Giant is just as human as any of us -- comes ...

The best films of the aughts
19 hours ago by Kyle
With The Iron Giant and The Incredibles Brad Bird established that he is one of the best American directors working in animation; with Ratatouille I think he solidified that position for himself. ... Even its soundtrack, which is responsible for a modern bluegrass revival, appeals to music snobs, top 40 listeners, and rural country music fans. This movie is all things for all people, which is pretty remarkable, considering its surreal premise as a screwball comedy set in ...

17 Nov 2009 by admin
The Iron Giant. Although this film seems like a generic Boy Meets Robot story, it is equally beloved by both children, parents, and childless weirdos like myself. Set in 1957, the Cold War is raging, and the stage is set for a robot ...

10th anniversary of “the Iron Giant', and the 'Sixth Sense ...
6 Aug 2009 by johneaves
We saw Iron Giant first, and it was one of the last good old hand drawn animated films to come out before the world dove in headfirst into all CG animated films. Of coarse there is a lot of CG mixed in to be sure, but it only added to that great .... and then being WALLOPED by that film right off the bat, crying into my big tub of popcorn. It was no Armageddon kind of summer popcorn movie fun, that's for sure. Still, I loved both films and the SPR soundtrack as well. ...
