Except for a Heath Ledger memorial citation (Best Supporting Actor), The Dark Knight was ignored in all major award categories, earning only doorstop prizes like Best Sound Editing and Sound Mixing. Safe to say that the Academy won't shut out the big action-adventure movie of 2009. Avatar is a sure nominee for Best Picture, and a likely winner. ...
